The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Anger About Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
